It's was a Wiggley good time!

Tuesday night was a big night for us... or I should say... for E, as we've had tickets to The Wiggles for months now, and he's been counting down the sleeps until he got to go to the show.  E was super excited to go to 'Ot-ta-wa' to see the famous Wiggle quartet... and they did not disappoint. For a $15 ticket... I'd say we got our monies worth and then some! E LOVED the music, the crowd, and all of the dancing along to his favourite Wiggley tunes! H enjoyed the show too (when he wasn't snoozing), and I think in a year or so - he'll be a big Wiggles fan too!

The only downfall for PC and I is that since Tuesday night we've been singing 'Hot potato hot potato'... and 'Choo-Choo Chugga-Chugga big red car... we travel near and we travel far'!!  Oh well... it was definitely worth it to see the look on E's face when the show began and with the introduction of each Wiggle and WIggley friend!

Of course, we couldn't escape Scotiabank Place without some Wiggles souvenirs... well, we could if it was just PC taking E, as he was not into the 'pay through the nose' pricing, but E set his eyes on a 'Wags the Dog' hat ... and while we tried to sway him into something a bit cheaper, his heart was set on it. And, I have to say, he truly hearts it (and he should for twenty bucks)!  I also picked up a Wiggles book too... for another twenty bucks, as that's putting money into educational value, but that's a whole other blog!

All in all, if you have an opportunity to take your young kids to see The Wiggles, I highly recommend it! The show was an hour and a half... it started right on time, and was just long enough that kids weren't overtired or bored. We chose seats in the front row of the middle bowl at Scotiabank as I was afraid E might be a little overwhelmed if we were too close, but  any seat in the house would have been great! E loved the show and if your kids like The Wiggles, they will not be disappointed.

Overall.. two thumbs up for The Wiggles!

Relax, it's not a fire... just some birthday candles!

On Monday, we celebrated my wonderful husband's birthday! Last year we were at Harvard in Boston, so E didn't get to really partake in any birthday celebrations for his Daddy, but this year, it was different! PC never likes to make too big of deal about his special day, but he still gets excited for presents every now and again!  E on the other hand gets so giddy for birthday celebrations... he can now sing the Happy Birthday song, and he loves ballons, cake, and urging the birthday recipient to open their gift, if not telling them exactly what it is!

PC's birthday was a pretty big deal for E... so we had fun after PC got home from work on Monday! PC is not a traditional cake lover or dessert man in general, so we improvised with a homemade caramel apple dip that he enjoys! As the pictures will show, E was just as into it as the birthday boy himself! H also didn't mind the festivities either, especially the tissue paper!

Happy Birthday PC... you are such an important part of our family, a great partner in life, and the very best Daddy to our beautiful boys! LOVE YOU!

Seven Months: Eating and Bouncing!

This past weekend, my little munchkin hit his 7th month milestone.  Our social calendar was A LITTLE busy but I did manage to sneak in a few photos ... which I might add are becoming more and more challenging with H's growing curiosity of the big wide world.

Let's see... since his six month post, H has grown... growing out of sleepers and even some shorts are starting to get a little tight for him. H started cereal and loves feeding time... so far he has tasted rice, barley, and now oatmeal.  He's a bit of a spoon hog... always wanting the spoon to himself, so I have high hopes he will feed himself in no time.

He is eager to get moving... he likes to be on his belly and has the rocking motion down pat, but yet is still satisfied to just roll to his intended destination.  He hasn't quite grasped the strength to sit up by himself... we've been working on it, but he really isn't that interested in doing it on his own.  I have to laugh when I sit him up and let go of him... he just casually flops to one side, gets his legs under him, moves onto his belly and looks up at you as if to say 'why would anyone want to do that again?'

He has sprouted yet another tooth... bottom left of center, which brings his count up to seven. He'll be chewing steak and potatoes in no time at the rate he's getting teeth.  His new favourite past time is definitely the jumperoo... bouncing is his thing... he has quite the little jig, prepping for next year's Glengarry Highland Games, I'm sure!

I can hardly believe how quickly the last month has past... we are prepping for some family time for the month of August, so before I know it we'll be doing our 8 month photo shoot at the cottage.  Crazy!  Its at this moment that I am really trying to savour my sweet boy. He is changing and growing so rapidly now ... and while I am excited for his next stage... I love to snuggle and cuddle with him in the state that is still less independent and more reliant on Mommy!

Happy 7 months to you Huddy Bear, my baby! You are the bestest boy!

It's hot, so why not paint!

It has been nothing but stifling hot for the past week and a bit... and its hard to be outside enjoying the sun when it is in fact this hot, but I thought, what better way to celebrate the heat than by painting my front door and garage door (which gets shade on it about 75% of the day)!

I had 'paint the front door' on my to-do list since last year... as it was full of scuff marks from PC and his hockey bag, and me and my winter boots kicking the door with my hands full of either A. children, or B. shopping bags! Either way, it needed to be done.

I started out just going to freshen up the white on the front door, but while at my local RONA, the sales girl said, white front doors are not meant to be used! She said its a job that has to be done every year (touching up the paint), so then I got thinking a darker front door would mean less overall maintenance... so I picked a few paint swatches, came home, primed the front door white, and then that evening returned and got a big can of Bistro brown!

Turns out... to paint outside, you need it to be above 10 degrees at night for the paint to set properly... so really this is the only time of year to do it.  And since we are busy most of August, I thought why not get it done and over with now while I have the time NOW!

So without further ado... here are the fruits of my labour (and PC's too - who I might add was reluctant about the idea of it, but did help me with the garage door... and has come to love it just as much as I do)!

BEFORE

AFTER

Once I got this little jobby done, I then decided to do the door inside the garage and then freshen up the white on the backs of the doors too. Its been a few full days of painting doors, but I am pleased with the results. And its has just inspired me to paint all the doors in the house, and touch up the scuff marks in the trim around the house (after vacation).

I didn't think this heat was bothering me at all, but now I can see it may have created a painting monster!

A word on matchy-matchy wardrobes!

As you know from pictures I have shared, I like to dress my boys in matchy-matchy cuteness from time to time.

Contrary to popular belief this is not in fact all. the. time. but it is often when there is a function or an occasion to celebrate. I like coordination and some outfits are just too cute to pass up for the both of them. I have to admit I get a bit of a high when I walk into a store that has 2 for $20 deals or a fab new line at Gymboree with sizing to fit both my boys!

I often have people commenting on the boys wardrobe and the fact that they are the same and or are not in fact twins, etc. - and YES I am well aware of this, but I like to think that I will only be able to do things like this for such a short period of time before they are telling me what they will and will not wear - so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts.

I also like to do it for other practical reasons to... like:
  • if we go to a crowded area, its not difficult to spot two kids wearing the same thing; OR
  • I only have to tell PC once how to dress them for an outting (while I finish getting beautiful); OR
  • if god forbid someone was to ever try to take them... I or a complete stranger could immediately tell the police what they were wearing (because they were just so darn cute in their matchy-matchy outfits)!
See... its not all about fashion all the time, its practical too!

Cottage Life!

I know... I've been MIA - again... the story of my entire blogging life, but for good reason - family VACAY!!

We just spent 10 days at the cottage... and the weather was exceptional! I am hoping for a repeat forecast for our time there in August too!

We did NOTHING... and I loved it. I had my blackberry up there, but didn't even use that, the reception was a bit shady at best, so it was nice to be offline and to realize... I didn't miss anything much!  I find being at the cottage with a baby and a toddler is much less relaxing than it may have been 3 to 7 years ago when it was just PC and I, but its also more entertaining and it allows me to reflect on all the wonderful things in my life over coffee, a few drinks, and some warm sunshine!

I did manage to get the camera out for a few shots using my new lens that I got from my parents as a Christmas gift. I love it... it makes me feels semi-professional in a non-professional photographer type of way!

I hope you all enjoyed the first week of July... I know we did!
Yay for SUMMER!

Happy Canada Day!

Its national red and white day... and of course you know I would participate with some matchy-matchy Canada day shirts for my boys!

Hope all of my Canadian friends and family are enjoying the holiday... and to my American friends, only a few more days until your celebration commences!

While its been a while since I've spent Canada day on Parliament Hill... this year I was tempted to stay in town to greet Will & Kate... but the cottage was actually much more appealing than catching a glimpse of the royals.

Happy Canuck Day to all!
