Busy living life!

I can hardly believe its mid-march.  The days seem to meld together and before I know it another week has passed and I have yet to even think about making a blog entry.

I'd like to say that this upsets me, but in reality, when I don't get to blogging, it means life is busy, and busy is good.

The past couple of months we've just been enjoying our hectic schedules of raising two boys. Nothing too overly exciting but we've gotten out and about with the kids, and now that spring like weather is almost here, I imagine we'll be spending out free time outdoors as much as possible.

This winter, we did a little sleigh riding, and although we skipped our annual canal outing, we did hit Snowflake Kingdom during Winterlude which did not disappoint any of us. The canal is closed for another year, and although it would have been nice to get out for a family skate, I know there will be many other years to enjoy this feature of the nation's capital!

Last weekend, E wrapped up another season of CanSkate. He is moving and shaking so well on both skates now. I have a feeling he'll be a great asset to any hockey team next season! H is about the only member of this family that wants to keep on shoveling. He is obsessed with his shovel and throws a royal fit if you rush him the house at the end of the day without a few minutes to 'chovel'! As much as I don't want to spend another second out in the cold at the days end, it is a pretty cute phase that I know won't last long.
Being the curling fan that I am, this time of year I am almost always half-glued to the tv. The Scotties was in Kingston this year and we managed to get there in person on closing weekend, just in time to see Team Homan from Ontario, in top play-off form.  The Brier followed a week later, and the excitement was high in this household when the boys from the Soo, Northern Ontario, Team Jacobs took home the Brier Tankard! Now, it's going to be an exciting few weeks of World Curling viewing!
I can't promise that blogging posts will be any more consistent, but I do hope that you are enjoying life as much as I am these days!

Bring on Easter! I could use some chocolate!

Happy St. Patty's Day

It's your lucky day... and not just because it's St. Patty's Day, but more so because I'm have a few minutes to post something here!

The boys and I had a little fun with a St. Patty's Day photo shoot! They were pretty silly customers but the results make my heart smile!  This is the kind of silliness that is my life lately. When work doesn't have me glued to my desktop or my blackberry, these boys keep me laughing with their hilariousness each and every day.

As you can see my baby boy just keeps outgrowing his baby looks, and my big boy is becoming more mature looking with each passing day.

They are a fun little duo and on St. Patty's Day, they are definitely finding their inner leprechaun!

I hope the luck of the Irish has found you today... I am sure tomorrow we will back to looking for that rainbow and pot o'gold, but for today... we are just enjoying the richness that is every day life.

Happy LOVE Day!!

It's Valentine's Day around the world, so I am hoping this little post plus some pics will make up for the fact that I haven't blogged in exactly a month. I don't have any good excuses except to say that we've been busy living life - working, playing, and just trying ensure we are functioning family each and every day.

I do have to say, that this Valentine's Day is so sweet with my big boy in kindergarten! He is aware of this special day much more than any other year and was quite into it the other night announcing after supper 'I have to make some special hearts for my friends and you too Mommy'.  Then came his demands 'I'm gonna need paper, markers, scissors, glue - can you get me that stuff?'

Yes sir!

He did cut out a bunch of hearts and filled the names for his friends on his special superhero cards. I did a little sucker photo project inspired by Pinterest - love that site, it doesn't require me to really think, you just open up the site and it basic screams 'this is what you'll do'!

Done and done.

Anyways... I had fun this morning making a heart shape breakfast for my boys, and then sending a heart shaped lunch with E to school. I am sure his 'friendship' party will be equally as exciting.  My baby boy is still a bit young for understanding this occasion, but he was all about the special heart treats on the table this morning. If there is a treat to be had, this boy can definitely find it!

PC and I have a date night planned this weekend... we are off the Eric Church concert, so really looking forward to a night out and perhaps 'a drink in my hand'!

Here's a little peek of our V-Day festivities. Whether VDay is a big deal to you or just another day, I hope each of you take the time to tell someone in your life how important they are to you. Life is too short... don't pass up this opportunity.

Happy LOVE Day!
Have a good one.

Christmas Eve!

It's here! All of the anticipation and stress of the season comes to a close tonight - your either ready or your not.  I am hovering between the two right now!!

It's been a busy few months (both at home and at work) and I am looking forward to a little break after we get through the next few exciting days.

I love this time of year with the boys... their sense of excitement and anticipation is really what keeps me going.  I have been up late consecutive nights for what seems like most of December. With H's birthday now behind us, it doesn't leave much time to get ready for the arrival of St. Nick - or anytime to catch up on lost sleep.

Who needs sleep... right?!

Sleep or no sleep, it really is worth it to see their faces and to listen to them recount events surrounding the season.

I hope each of you have a special Christmas Eve, whether it be with family or friends, or just time to yourself for quiet reflection.  We are blessed to have been given this life... and its special occasions like these that really remind me what's important. It's not money, or things, or status... but truly to be surrounded by good people and to be loved.

I am off to spend some time with my boys... enjoy Christmas!

Thanksgiving!

Every year around thanksgiving, I get a little sentimental, but I really do love that there is a time of year that reminds us to reflect on what we are thankful for. This year is no different from any other in terms of what I am thankful for.... family and good friendships mean the world to me and I am so thankful to have an abundance of both in my life. I love my family and friends, and I hope health and happiness continues to follow them throughout their lives.

And it goes without saying, but my little turkeys and their Daddy are at the top of my thanksgiving list! Love my boys and all of their shenanigans! They are getting so big and very busy, and they definitely keep me on my toes, but I would not have it any other way. When I think about all of the happiness they bring to my life, I am truly thankful. They are the best!

I hope all of my Canadians readers had a wonderful long weekend where you could set aside a little time to 'give thanks'! To my American friends, your turn is coming, so rest up!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Best job in the world!

Every year that I get to celebrate Mother's Day as a mother... is another great year to me.  I love being a Mom, and being a Mom to two boys, but the last couple of weeks have had me run down and feeling like I am falling behind in so many other areas of my life.  However, along comes Mother's Day and boom, I am reminded why I love this job so much!

I got to spend the day with my boys, and we didn't do anything over the top, but I did enjoy it, and I enjoyed hearing my big boy tell me 'did you know that today is a special day for Mother's like you Mommy ... cause your my special Mommy'.

Lots of sweet conversations with my big boy today, and lots of slobbery kisses and oohing and awwing from baby boy. PC also stepped in to help out with a few of the Mommy duties too, so that was a nice way to break up the day (and he played photographer too!). We had a nice family dinner with my in-laws and the boys fell asleep on the ride home so bedtime was a breeze!

I am so thankful to take part in this special day - it sounds corny, but I really truly love being a Mom.

To all of my Mommy readers out there, I hope you were reminded in some small way today just how special you are!

Happy Mother's Day.

Truly blessed!

This past Sunday was a special day in our household. We finally made the arrangements to have the boys baptized and did so at a small service on Sunday afternoon.

Now... for many families, baptism happens when a baby is only months old, but in our household this was not the case.

PC and I have always had the intention to have our children baptized but there were a series of excuses factors that came into play during the last three years. Of course, PC and I being children of catholic parents, and being raised with the influence of the catholic church, the silent pressure to have our boys baptized only mounted with each passing Sunday. As PC likes to say... "3 hours after they were born is too late for my mother!", and that's a fairly true statement for my father too!

Nevertheless, we finally got things rolling on our end and made the arrangements a little over a month ago to have it done this past Sunday. I don't think it matters when we did it, but just that we finally did it!

I have to say, it was a really nice day, and the fact that E was very into it, also made it fun. He was so proud to be called up to receive his baptism candle with his godparents. I loved the look on his face. And H was pretty pumped to have the holy water poured on his hair - gave his famous 'rock on' sign right away!

It turned out to be a bit of a bigger deal than I had first envisioned, and I am really happy with our decision to have it done at the church the boys will now be apart of throughout their school years.

Here are a few pics from this special day... thank you to the boy's godparents, and their grandparents for setting aside sometime to be part this day and for spoiling them with love and support - it means so much to us.

Happy St. Patty's Day

It's that time of year to break out the green and consider ourselves Irish for a day! When I was in University, St. Patty's Day meant you were in for a foggy evening and a miserable hangover, but since I've had kids, its more about finding some festive shirts and an excuse to snap a few pictures.

This year's shirts came to the boys via a bestie's mother (shout out to Mrs. Vicky Boyd), who designed these sweet little shamrock tie shirts.  I LOVE them, and the boys did too! Since they were white, I saved them for today to ensure they stayed white, but yesterday, I sent the boys in some other festive green shirts with a batch of shamrock cookies for their daycare friends.

We are having fun celebrating the luck of the Irish... and I hope you do too!

Happy St. Patty's Day!
